The good-faith pay range for this role is $91,800 - $131,900 per year. Actual compensation may vary and may be above the posted range based on factors such as a candidate's skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location.
What your job will be like:
In this job you will:
- Provide round the clock maintenance, construction, and operational support to support Accelerator and Physics operations.
- Perform mechanical engineering design work or utilize architect-engineering consultant (A-E) to produce construction packages for new systems and existing system modifications. Use computer-aided drafting for development of drawings
- Design, operate, and maintain building and industrial controls including utility monitoring and remote control systems.
- Determine the most appropriate means of maintaining mechanical systems through the use of service, design, and construction contracts. Evaluation shall include timeliness and cost effectiveness.
- Serve as procurement officer’s technical representative on construction contracts and maintenance service agreements. Provide direction to subcontractors and oversees technical performance ensuring work is completed safely within budget.
- Perform investigations, testing, and inspects mechanical systems to ensure proper operation and identify deficiencies. Collaborate with other engineers and groups to solve technical problems related to the operation of mechanical systems.
- Review A-E’s designs and mechanical subcontractor’s proposals for technical conformance and conformance with construction codes and standards.
- Perform mechanical energy management studies making proposals and implementing projects enabling the Lab to comply with DOE energy goals.
Experience
- Required: 4 or more years Experience performing mechanical engineering design and technical support
Education
- Required: Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering
Experience and Education Exchange
Licenses and Certifications
- Preferred: Current Fundamentals of Engineering registration in Virginia
- Preferred: a state with direct reciprocity agreement with Virginia
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of building codes.
- Effective verbal/written communications, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Skill in computer aided drafting systems especially AutoCAD.
- Display high level of initiative and ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.
- Knowledge in various HVAC systems and facility mechanical systems including related control systems.
